Ebodi

Article by Kxng Rich

One of the things I like about composing editorials for artists is that I get to give flowers to those who truly deserve to smell them. Ebodi is one of those few rappers who initiated the elevation of musical content in the 409 area code. Even the amount of money he invested into his early mixtapes (back when he was named Lil E) was unheard of. Ebodi was the first Beaumont, TX artist to drop a music video that went viral strictly based upon the quality of the product. Ebodi is part of the rap collective Go Ent (aka Go Gang, fka OAG) which also includes fellow artists Quincy BlackQD Da Don, & Yung Black HuaracheEbodi has recently adopted the the nickname "Mr Easter Pink" which refers to a certain way of mixing Sprite with purple drank that makes the liquid appear pink in color.

Ebodi's rap style has evolved from a display of purely lyrical raps to now also being able to captivate the listener with melodic autotuned hooks. Ebodi has had several hit singles such as his song "Real Money" that was featured on BET & MTV, or his first big song "Smile" that featured Quincy Black and quickly became a hood classic. But anyone from the 409 will tell you that when Go Ent released the song "On Go," (which featured Yung Black Huarache, K Staccz, QD Da Don, Quincy Black, & Ebodi) that is when everything took off for them. After BeatKing jumped on the remix of the song, Ebodi and the rest ended up on the radar of Stevie J, J Dawg, J Prince, & even Drake. So much so that they actually performed the song at Drake's exclusive birthday party later that year. Ebodi definitely knew after that song that it was time to work. He was later featured on nationwide publications such as SayCheese TV, Off Da Porch, and even performed a freestyle on the major platform "On The Radar." I can also personally attest to the fact that although Ebodi raps about hardcore content, he's still an approachable guy who's willing to work with anyone for the right price.

Ebodi's latest visual for his song "Wock Sipper" was filmed by his go to video director Cash Jundi. The video is another great performance by Ebodi and is jam packed with visual effects, while yet having an old school vibe due to the set location and the Isley Brothers sample used in the beat. When it comes to visuals from Beaumont artists, Ebodi is easily top 2 (and he's not #2). His collaborations with Trill Art and Cash Jundi have set him apart from other rappers who can barely afford to book a couple videoshoots from these directors. Ebodi has released dozens of visuals and always gives a fire performance for the videographer to work with. Oh and let's not forget, Ebodi was recently featured alongside DJ XO on the soundtrack to the movie "The Dirty 3rd: Next Generations" and has lately been seen associating with the likes of Yung Al of Black Diamond Ent. Yes I know, this guy is no stranger to making major moves on his own dime. So I think It's safe to say, Ebodi won't be stopping anytime soon.
